Courgette (Curcubita pepo) - Black beauty

£2.50

A classic, high-yielding bush variety. Now one of the most widely grown and reliable courgettes in the UK, valued for its adaptability to cooler, shorter summers and its long, productive season from July to October.

Black Beauty’ traces its heritage to the Italian variety ‘Green Milan’. Released as a distinct cultivar in 1957, it quickly gained recognition by winning the prestigious All-America Selections award.

A compact, non-vining bush habit, making it ideal for containers, small gardens or large pots. Producing smooth, glossy fruits with very dark green to almost black skin, with pale green to creamy white flesh that is firm yet tender. The flavour is mild and delicate, and the texture is superior to many other varieties, making it suitable for grilling, roasting, sautéing, eating raw in salads, and widely considered one of the best courgettes for freezing. Thrives in full sun and rich soil with regular watering.
