Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) - Sudduth's Brandywine

£0.00

Indeterminate, potato-leaf vines that require heavy staking and mature relatively late at 85–90 days. Producing huge, deep-pink, oblate beefsteak fruits, and prized for its intense, rich, sweet, and complex flavor.

Thin skin makes this a poor variety for shipping and is therefore not grown commercially, however it is fantastic for home growers and considered the bench mark for any pink brandywine.

Though the original Brandywine variety has a long, somewhat murky history dating back to the late 1800s; this strain can be traced to the Sudduth Hill family of Tennessee. In 1982, Dorris Sudduth Hill sent the seeds to Ben Quisenberry, a tomato enthusiast from Ohio. A member of the Seed Savers Exchange, he recognised its quality and he had it listed, ensuring its survival for heritage growers.
